2024 Recap: Biz Highlights and Goals for 2025
As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on another year of growth, challenges, and new adventures—both personally and professionally. It’s been a whirlwind of a year, and I’m so grateful for all of the opportunities and moments that made me say, “I can’t believe I get to do this!”
I wanted to share some of my favorite highlights from 2024 and give you a sneak peek into what’s on the horizon for 2025. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just connected with me this year, your support truly means the world. Let’s get into it!
2024 Highlights
Let’s start with a non art-related highlight: running my first half marathon! In April, I took on the challenge of completing the Hapalua Half Marathon in Honolulu. It pushed me mentally and physically, but left me feeling inspired, motivated, proud (and SORE!) It was a reminder that setting personal goals outside of work is just as important as professional ones. Crossing the finish line at 2:18 showed me what I’m capable of when I commit to something, even when it feels daunting. Does this mean I’ll be running another half marathon anytime soon? Heck no :)
Surpassing 50+ Wholesale Retailers - I’m still pinching myself knowing that my products are carried in over 50 retail stores across the country! Seeing my artwork in brick-and-mortar shops never gets old. On a similar note - this year I also launched Wholesale for Handmade Businesses: From Studio to Storefront, an online class covering everything artists need to start selling their work in stores. The cherry on top? It received a Skillshare Staff Pick award! Sharing my experiences and helping other creatives navigate the world of wholesale has been incredibly fulfilling.
Surpassing 10,000 Students on Skillshare - As of today, over 10,900 students have joined my Skillshare classes, with 187+ positive reviews! Teaching continues to be one of my favorite parts of my business—there’s nothing like seeing students gain confidence, tag me in their beautiful projects, and, most importantly, find joy in painting.
Celebrating My 30th Birthday - Despite being down for the count with Covid on my actual birthday, my husband surprised me with a dream trip to celebrate the following week. From spending time with friends and family in Seattle to enjoying shows in Las Vegas like Cirque du Soleil “O” and Absinthe, it was a milestone birthday I’ll never forget (although I’m still getting used to saying I’m “in my thirties”...)
Recording My First Podcast Interview - I took a big step outside my comfort zone this year by being a guest on a podcast interview with Aloha Oahu. We talked about my journey as an artist and entrepreneur, and while I almost let my fear and nerves hold me back, I’m so glad I said yes. As an entrepreneur, growth often comes from those uncomfortable leaps.
Getting Monetized on YouTube - This year, I reached 8,300 subscribers on YouTube and hit a major milestone: monetization! Being able to earn income from my tutorials allows me to keep creating free content for artists everywhere. I’m still getting in the rhythm of filming, editing, and posting on a consistent schedule, but am so grateful for all of the kind comments, growth, and viewership thus far!
Looking Ahead to 2025
Growing My YouTube Presence - I’ve enjoyed mixing tutorials with studio vlogs this year, and I’m excited to expand my content in 2025. Whether it’s sharing painting tips, behind-the-scenes glimpses into small business life, or answering your questions, I’d love to hear what you want to see next!
Launching a New Collection - It’s been over a year since I released a cohesive collection, and I’m itching to dive back into painting vibrant botanicals again. At this point, the pieces in the new collection live in my head, but I can’t wait to get them going on paper. Look forward to more rich colors, detailed flora and fauna, and Hawaii-inspired paintings. I’m also looking forward to dedicating more time to painting landscapes and seascapes in 2025 - I still find them so challenging, but here is one of my favorite pieces I’ve painted so far.
Getting Back to the Personal Side of Instagram - When I first started sharing my artwork on Instagram in 2018, it felt like a connected community—I showed my face more, was interactive, and genuinely enjoyed the personal connections I made. This year, I’ve felt a little disconnected from Instagram. It feels more promotional and less personal at times, and I sometimes get “stage fright” when I think about 60,000 people on the other end of the screen. In 2025, I want to get back to the community side of Instagram—sharing more of the behind-the-scenes and personal moments that make social media feel “social” again. I hope you’ll join me there if you haven’t already!
To everyone who’s supported me this year—whether you’ve enrolled in a class, liked a post, purchased a product, or cheered me on from afar—thank you from the bottom of my heart. This blog captures the highs of the year, but they wouldn’t have been possible without you.
Here’s to another year of creativity, growth, and stepping outside our comfort zones. Wishing you a wonderful end of the year and a joyful and successful 2025!
Much love,
Priya
